Sköll is a wolf that is said to chase the sun. He is pursuing the chariot of the sun, driven by the god Sol (or Sól). The purpose of this relentless chase is to devour the sun. Hati is another wolf, and his role is to chase the moon, Máni. Hati's mission is to catch the moon and, in a similar fashion to Sköll, devour it.
